On November 14, commencing at 3:00 p.m. for approximately 40 minutes, Mr. OUE Sadamasa, Special Advisor to the Prime Minister, received a courtesy call by Ambassador Jukka SALOVAARA, the Permanent State Secretary in the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland, in Tokyo. The overview of the meeting is as follows:

  1. At the outset, Special Advisor OUE welcomed Ambassador Salovaara’s visit to Japan and stated that Japan and Finland are strategic partners sharing common values and principles, and that cooperation in various fields is progressing based on the “Joint statement on Reinforced Cooperation in the Future between Japan and the Republic of Finland” announced in June this year.
  2. Recognizing that the security of the Euro-Atlantic and the Indo-Pacific is inseparable, the two sides exchanged views on cooperation in the field of security such as defense equipment and technology as well as civil protection, and also discussed international situation. They concurred to continue exchanging views and strengthening coordination between the two countries.
