On April 15, the Agreement between Japan and Poland on Social Security (hereinafter referred to as “Agreement”) was signed in Tokyo between Mr. KONO Akira, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Poland, and Mr. Sebastian GAJEWSKI, Deputy Minister, Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy of Poland, in the presence of Ms. TAKAICHI Sanae, Prime Minister of Japan and H.E. Mr. Donald TUSK, Prime Minister of Poland.
- As for employees temporarily sent from Japan to Poland as well as those temporarily sent from Poland to Japan, there are currently issues such as being subject to compulsory coverage under the pension systems of both countries. The Agreement aims to solve these issues. Under this Agreement, the employees temporarily sent for a period of five years or less from either country to the other will be covered, in principle, only by the pension system of the former country. The Agreement will also enable those employees to establish eligibility to receive pension benefits by totalizing the periods of the coverage of both countries.
- It is expected that the conclusion of this Agreement will reduce the burden imposed on companies and employees and thereby further facilitate economic exchanges between Japan and Poland.
