North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO)

On December 1, commencing at 6:15 p.m. for approximately 20 minutes, Ms. TAKAICHI Sanae, Prime Minister of Japan, held a telephone meeting with H.E. Mr. Mark RUTTE, Secretary General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). The overview of the meeting is as follows;

  1. At the outset, Secretary General Rutte congratulated Prime Minister TAKAICHI on her appointment.
  2. Prime Minister TAKAICHI highlighted that the security of the Euro-Atlantic and the Indo-Pacific is inseparable and cooperation between Japan-NATO and NATO-IP4 (Japan, Australia, New Zealand, the Republic of Korea) is strategically important. In response, Secretary-General Rutte supported such views, and both leaders concurred on working together to elevate our cooperative relationship to new heights through concrete cooperation.
  3. Both leaders also exchanged views on regional situations including the situations in Ukraine and the Indo-Pacific and confirmed that they will continue to cooperate in addressing security challenges across regions.
