Foreign Minister Hayashi Attends the EU Indo-Pacific Ministerial Forum

On May 13, Mr. HAYASHI Yoshimasa, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, attended the EU Indo-Pacific Ministerial Forum in Stockholm, Sweden. The overview of the meeting is as follows.
- Minister Hayashi attended this year’s meeting in person following his virtual participation in the meeting last year. Ministers from EU member states as well as invited countries and organizations outside the EU(India, Sri Lanka, Singapore) have participated in the meeting.

at the opening session, then in the subsequent roundtable on security, he stressed that like-minded countries should remain united across regional boundaries in order to uphold a free and open international order based on the rule of law. The representatives of participated countries mentioned that the security of Europe and that of Indo-Pacific is inseparable, they also referred to the importance of the Indo-Pacific reagion from various perspectives such as economy and security. They also concurred on the recognition that it is important to strengthen security cooperation among like-minded countries.
