Meeting between Prime Minister Kishida and President von der Leyen of the European Commission

On March 31, commencing at 6:35 p.m. for approximately 25 minutes, Mr. KISHIDA Fumio, Prime Minister of Japan, held a telephone meeting with H.E. Dr. Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission. The overview of the talk is as follows.
- The two leaders exchanged views on the regional situation such as Ukraine and Indo-Pacific and agreed to continue close communication between Japan and the EU.
- President von der Leyen praised Prime Minister Kishida's recent visit to Ukraine as necessary and important, stating that it sent a strong message not only to Ukraine but also to the international community.
