On March 24 (local time), Mr. KISHIDA Fumio, Prime Minister of Japan, who was visiting Belgium to attend the G7 Summit, held a talk with H.E. Mr. Jens Stoltenberg, Secretary General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) on the fringe of the meeting. An overview of the meeting is as follows.

  1. Prime Minister Kishida expressed his respect to the Secretary General's efforts with regards to Russia's aggression against Ukraine. Secretary General Stoltenberg appreciated Japan’s efforts including the sanctions against Russia and support for Ukraine.
  2. In addition, Secretary General Stoltenberg stated that NATO would like to strengthen cooperation with partners in the Asia-Pacific region. Both sides affirmed that Japan and NATO would continue their cooperation.
