On May 23, 2025, commencing at 4:15 p.m. for approximately 30 minutes, Mr. HAYASHI Yoshimasa, Chief Cabinet Secretary of Japan, received a courtesy call from H.E. Mr. Nuriddin ISMOILOV, Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis (Parliament) of the Republic of Uzbekistan, who is visiting Japan. The summary of the meeting is as follows.

  1. At the outset, Chief Cabinet Secretary Hayashi mentioned that Uzbekistan is a strategic partner in maintaining and strengthening a free and open international order based on the rule of law and expressed his hope that the visit to Japan by Speaker Mr. Ismoilov and his delegation, as well as the activities of the newly established Parliamentary Friendship Leagues with Japan of Senate and Legislative Chamber of the Parliament of Uzbekistan, will further develop inter-parliamentary exchanges between the two countries.
  2. Chief Cabinet Secretary Hayashi asked for Speaker Mr. Ismoilov’s understanding and cooperation for the immediate resolution of the abductions issue and gained the support.
  3. Speaker Mr. Ismoilov expressed his gratitude for Japan’s significant cooperation with Uzbekistan, and his willingness to strengthen bilateral cooperation in various areas, including inter-parliamentary exchanges, politics, economics and culture.
