Courtesy Call on Parliamentary Vice-Minister Matsumoto by Young Diplomats from NIS Countries


On February 4, commencing at 1:30 p.m. for approximately 30 minutes, Mr. MATSUMOTO Hisashi, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, received a courtesy call by delegation of young diplomats from Central Asian and Caucasus countries, who are visiting Japan under the “Young Diplomats Invitation Program” of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. A summary of the courtesy call is as follows.
- At the outset, Parliamentary Vice-Minister Matsumoto welcomed the group, and highlighted the significance of people-to-people exchanges, and expressed his expectation that, the delegation would deepen their understandings of Japan’s efforts on “biodiversity and environmental protection” – the theme of this invitation –, as well as share their understanding and deepen cooperation beyond national frameworks.
- The participants expressed their gratitude for the invitation to Japan and expressed their aspirations for the visit..
Since 1991, Japan has invited mid-career and young diplomats and officials from NIS Countries (Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan) and deepened mutual understanding through exchange of views with government, business officials and experts, tours of economic and cultural facilities and visits to municipalities.
