Parliamentary Vice-Minister Matsumoto is delivering his speech on the stage

On May 26, 2025, Mr. MATSUMOTO Hisashi, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, attended “The Independence Day of Georgia Reception” held in Tokyo hosted by the Embassy of Georgia in Japan and delivered a speech on behalf of the Government of Japan. The overview is as follows.

  1. On the occasion of the Independence Day of Georgia, Parliamentary Vice-Minister Matsumoto extended his heartfelt congratulations and stated that Japan and Georgia are important partners in building a free and open international order based on the rule of law. Over the more than 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1992, two countries have steadily built friendly relations through exchanges in a wide range of political, economic, and cultural fields.
  2. Furthermore, Parliamentary Vice-Minister Matsumoto expressed his appreciation to all those who have contributed to the development of Japan-Georgia relations, including H.E. Ambassador Lezhava, who has played an instrumental role in enhancing the visibility of Georgia in Japan. He also expressed his hope that the bonds of friendship will be further deepened and that the bilateral relationship, endowed with significant potential and promise, will further flourish.
