Japan-Hungary Relations
The 12th Intergovernmental Consultation on Cooperation in the field of Science and Technology between Japan and Hungary


On June 8, 2015 in Tokyo, the Government of Japan and the Government of Hungary held the 12th Intergovernmental Consultation on Cooperation in the field of Science and Technology, co-chaired by Mr. Makoto Katsura, Ambassador for Science and Technology Cooperation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan and Ms. Szonja Csuzdi, Head of Department for International Affairs, National Research, Development and Innovation Office of Hungary.
In the Intergovernmental Consultation, both sides shared the overviews and progresses on their science and technology policies and outlined current research collaboration and possible areas for future cooperation, such as health-related research, material sciences, laser technology, nanotechnology, ICT with a view to further strengthening and deepening science and technology cooperation between Japan and Hungary. The Japanese side also confirmed the joint projects proposed by the Hungarian side in the coming years.
Noting that a number of cooperative activities between Japan and Hungary have been carried out since the Exchange of Notes between the Government of Japan and the Government of Hungary concerning cooperation in the field of science and technology, signed in 1979, the co-chairs expressed their hope for further development of cooperation between the two countries for deepening the bilateral relationship.
Both sides confirmed to hold the next joint committee in Hungary and the specific date of the meeting will be coordinated through diplomatic channels.
