Prime Minister Shinzo Abe Receives a Courtesy Call from the President of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic


On August 3, commencing at 11:45 a.m. for approximately 15 minutes, Mr. Shinzo Abe, Prime Minister of Japan, received a courtesy call from H.E. Mr. Jan Hamacek, President, Chamber of Deputies, Parliament of the Czech Republic. The overview is as follows.
1. Prime Minister Abe welcomed President Hamacek’s visit to Japan as the first-ever visit by a President of the Czech Republic’s Chamber of Deputies, and his attendance at the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Ceremony and the World Scout Jamboree. In response, President Hamacek explained that he had been looking forward to visiting to Japan, and is grateful for the welcome.
2. Prime Minister Abe mentioned that the Czech Republic is serving as the Chair country for the Visegrad Group (V4) from July this year, and explained that Japan hopes to continue to cooperate with the Czech Republic, as partners that share fundamental values.
3. The two sides welcomed the progress with economic relations between the two countries, including that more than 220 Japanese companies are doing business in the Czech Republic, creating 45,000 jobs, and expressed their expectation that cooperation will also be strengthened in other fields, such as politics, diplomacy, security, nuclear power and sports.
