Luncheon Meeting Hosted by State Minister for Foreign Affairs HORII with Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO)

On May 18, commencing at 12:30 for approximately 90 minutes, Mr. HORII Iwao, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, held a luncheon meeting with Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), who was visiting Japan. The overview of the meeting is as follows.
- State Minister Horii conveyed Japan’s views on the way forward for discussions at the WTO, based on the results of the WTO's 14th Ministerial Conference held in March of this year, and expressed Japan’s determination to make contributions toward WTO reform. Director-General Okonjo-Iweala expressed her expectations for Japan’s contributions.
- Both sides reaffirmed the value of the WTO in ensuring stability and predictability for business, and concurred in the need to advance substantial discussions toward WTO reform.
