From December 16 to 19, Prof. MATSUMOTO Yoichiro, Science and Technology (S&T) Advisor to the Minister for Foreign Affairs, visited the Kingdom of Denmark to attend the FMSTAN (Foreign Ministries Science and Technology Advice Network) meeting and the 2nd European Science Diplomacy Conference held in Copenhagen.
- At the FMSTAN meeting, Prof. Matsumoto discussed science and technology diplomacy initiatives with S&T advisors and experts from various countries, taking into account the rapidly changing international situation and current trends in science and technology.
- At the European Science Diplomacy Conference, Prof. Matsumoto participated as a panellist in the session on “Securitization of Science and its Impact on Science Diplomacy”. He introduced Japan's recent initiatives to ensure research security, and engaged in discussions about balancing between openness and restrictions in research and innovation, as well as international research cooperation in the current international situation.
