Science and Technology

From October 13 to 17, Prof. MATSUMOTO Yoichiro, Science and Technology Advisor to the Minister for Foreign Affairs, visited Germany and Switzerland. The overview of his visit is as follows.

1. Prof. Matsumoto visited Bonn and Cologne in Germany, where he met with local officials and scientists from the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space, the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, the German Academic Exchange Service, the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science Bonn Office, the University of Cologne, and the German Aerospace Centre. At each place he visited, he explained Japan's science and technology diplomacy initiatives, and exchanged views on science and technology cooperation and human resource exchanges between Japan and Germany.
2. In Switzerland, Prof. Matsumoto attended the 5th GESDA (Geneva Science and Diplomacy Anticipation) Summit held in Geneva, where he exchanged views with attendees from various countries on science and technology diplomacy as well as ways of international cooperation.
