Prof. MATSUMOTO, Science and Technology Advisor to the Minister for Foreign Affairs, visited San Francisco

- From January 25 to 27, 2024, Prof. Matsumoto Yoichiro, Science and Technology Advisor to the Minister for Foreign Affairs, visited San Francisco and participated in the Japanese Researcher Gatherings organized by the JSPS San Francisco Office, exchanged views with the local Japanese researchers, and visited local national laboratories.
- More than 100 Japanese researchers participated in the Japanese Researcher Gatherings, which was organized in cooperation with the Consulate-General of Japan in San Francisco and the Science and Technology Fellow. At the Japanese Researcher Gatherings, Prof. Matsumoto gave a lecture titled "Science and Technology Diplomacy Strategies to Revitalize Japan," inviting Japanese researchers to think together about how to strengthen Japan's science and technology capabilities. He had many useful conversations with many Japanese researchers, from professors to graduate students and many thought-provoking opinions were expressed.
- Prof. Matsumoto visited Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory to exchange views on promoting international joint research.
