The 7th Japan-Sweden Joint Committee on Science and Technology Cooperation

- The 7th Japan-Sweden Joint Committee on Science and Technology Cooperation was held on August 30th in Stockholm.
- The Joint Committee was co-chaired by H.E. Mr. Takeshi Nakane, Ambassador for Science and Technology of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan (MOFA) and Dr. Jonas Björck, Director, Division for Research Policy, Ministry of Education and Research (MER) of Sweden. Attendees included a range of representatives from the relevant ministries and agencies as well as from the embassies of both countries.
- During the meeting, both sides shared the recent developments of national science technology and innovation policies, and exchanged views on the current situation of bilateral cooperation activities. The committee discussed main cooperation areas such as: Life Science (including Anti-Microbial Resistance (AMR)); Ageing Society; Polar Research; as well as Frameworks of Research Cooperation. The committee also discussed the status of bilateral cooperation and future directions in the new areas of "Cooperation on Large Scale Research Facilities" and "University Collaboration".
