On October 18th, 2024, commencing at 2:50pm, for approximately 15 minutes, Mr. AOKI Kazuhiko, Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary received a courtesy call by Mr. MORI Mikio, the Chairman of the Overseas Japanese Press Association and representatives of Japanese-language newspapers and broadcasting companies in Singapore and the United States. The overview of the courtesy call is as follows.

  1. Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary AOKI congratulated the 51st Convention of the Overseas Japanese Press Association. He also stated that the Government of Japan would like to strengthen ties with overseas Japanese and Japanese descendants (Nikkei), and that it would like to work closely with Japanese-language newspapers and broadcasting companies, which serve as the most effective and useful tools of engaging with Nikkei communities abroad.
  2. In response, Chairman MORI expressed his gratitude for contributing press releases of Japanese Government to be used in Japanese-language newspapers abroad, and also requested continued support for Japanese-language newspapers and broadcasting companies.
