- From Monday, March 19, to Tuesday, March 20, H.E. Mr. Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão, Prime Minister and Minister of Defense and Security of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, will visit Japan.
- On Monday, March 19, Mr. Yoshihiko Noda, Prime Minister of Japan, is scheduled to hold a meeting with Prime Minister Gusmão. Moreover, Prime Minister Gusmão is scheduled to meet with Japanese government officials, Diet members, and officials of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to exchange opinions during his stay in Japan.
- As this year marks the 10th anniversary of independence of Timor-Leste and the 10th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Timor-Leste, a number of activities are planned as part of the "Year of Peace and Friendship between Japan and Timor-Leste." It is expected that the visit of Prime Minister Gusmão this time will further the development of friendly and cooperative relations between Japan and Timor-Leste.
