  1. Baroness Catherine Ashton, High Representative of the European Union (EU) for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice President of the European Commission, will visit Japan from Tuesday, November 1 to Friday, November 4.

  2. On Wednesday, November 2, Baroness Ashton will have a meeting with H.E. Mr. Koichiro Gemba, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan. At this meeting, Mr. Gemba and Baroness Ashton will exchange views on Japan-EU relations including a bilateral Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) as well as common challenges facing Japan and the EU in the international community.

  3. On the same day, Baroness Ashton will attend the inauguration ceremony of a new office of the Delegation of the European Union to Japan. Mr. Kazuyuki Hamada, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, will also attend the ceremony.

  4. During her visit to Japan, Baroness Ashton will visit disaster-affected areas.
