The First Meeting of the High-Level Panel of Global Sustainability and attendance by Dr. Yukio Hatoyama

  1. The First Meeting of the High-Level Panel of Global Sustainability will be held on 19 September at the United Nations Headquarters, New York.
  2. Dr. Yukio Hatoyama, former Prime Minister of Japan, will attend the Meeting. The Panel will discuss, among others, a new vision for sustainable growth and prosperity in a low-carbon society.
  3. The Government of Japan associates itself with the objective of the Meeting to formulate the new vision, along with mechanisms for achieving it, focusing on the strategic solutions to Climate Change. It will contribute actively to the Panel, in order to work towards establishing a fair and effective international framework in which all major economies participate.
