The 4th ROK-Japan Counter-Terrorism Consultation

The 4th ROK-Japan Counter-Terrorism Consultation will be held on June 30, 2010 in Seoul.
Mr. Kiyoshi Araki, Ambassador in charge of International Counter-Terrorism Cooperation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will represent the Japan side while Mr. Lee Joon-gyu, Ambassador for International Counter-Terrorism Cooperation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, will represent the ROK side.
At this consultation, Japan and ROK will share information regarding the international and regional terrorism situation, and also exchange opinions on their international and domestic measures on counter-terrorism. Both sides will also exchange their experiences and efforts on international counter-terrorism cooperation, and explore the possibility of joint efforts between the two countries, with a view to strengthening international counter-terrorism capabilities.
This Consultation follows the agreement reached at a Japan-ROK Summit meeting between then Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi and then President Kim Dae-Jung in March 2002. Also, this round of Consultations is preceded by the Foreign Ministerial Meeting between Foreign Minister Katsuya Okada and Foreign Minister Yu Myung-hwan held in February this year, during which both sides confirmed their intention to hold the 4th Consultation and discuss the issue specifically in order to address terrorism threats.
