The 4th ROK-Japan Counter-Terrorism Consultation

- The 4th ROK-Japan Counter-Terrorism Consultation will be held on June 30, 2010 in Seoul.
- Mr. Kiyoshi Araki, Ambassador in charge of International Counter-Terrorism Cooperation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will represent the Japan side while Mr. Lee Joon-gyu, Ambassador for International Counter-Terrorism Cooperation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, will represent the ROK side.
- At this consultation, Japan and ROK will share information regarding the international and regional terrorism situation, and also exchange opinions on their international and domestic measures on counter-terrorism. Both sides will also exchange their experiences and efforts on international counter-terrorism cooperation, and explore the possibility of joint efforts between the two countries, with a view to strengthening international counter-terrorism capabilities.
- This Consultation follows the agreement reached at a Japan-ROK Summit meeting between then Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi and then President Kim Dae-Jung in March 2002. Also, this round of Consultations is preceded by the Foreign Ministerial Meeting between Foreign Minister Katsuya Okada and Foreign Minister Yu Myung-hwan held in February this year, during which both sides confirmed their intention to hold the 4th Consultation and discuss the issue specifically in order to address terrorism threats.
