Visit to Japan by H.E.Mrs. Irina Bokova, Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO)

- H.E. Mrs. Bokova, Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), will visit Japan from November 24(Wed) to 27(Sat) as a Guest of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
- During her stay, Director-General Bokova will meet Mr. Seiji Maehara, Minister for Foreign Affairs and other Japanese high-ranked government officials. She is scheduled to give a keynote speech at the symposium entitled “Climate Change and Education: The Role of UNESCO in the 2010s” to be held in United Nations University. She will also visit World heritage sites as well as intangible cultural heritage sites and exchange views with related parties in Kyoto.
- It is expected that Director-General Bokova’s visit to Japan will further deepen the cooperative relationship between Japan and UNESCO.
- This is Director-General Bokova’s first visit to Japan since assuming office.
