- On September 10 (Thu), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will host the
fifth Regional Promotion Seminar (Hokkaido/Tohoku Bloc) for local governments
to advertise the policies and charm of the region to the diplomatic corps
in Tokyo.
- In the seminar, the prefectural governments of Hokkaido and Fukushima
and the municipal governments of Sapporo and Sendai will give a presentation
on its regional policy and charm. It is expected that through this open
exchange between the local governments and the diplomatic corps, understanding
of Japan’s provincial areas will be promoted and a network between the
local governments and the diplomatic corps created.
- In the previous fiscal year, the first through third seminars of this
kind were held for the Kyushu Bloc, the Kansai Bloc, and the Kanto Bloc.
In this fiscal year, the fourth seminar was held for the Hokuriku/Tokai
Bloc in July, and the sixth seminar for the Chugoku/Shikoku Bloc is scheduled
to be held next January.
- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been providing various kinds of
cooperation to support a variety of international efforts being made by
the local governments. This seminar is being held as part of such cooperation.
