Joint Missions for promoting trade and investment to Africa
August 27, 2008
- From the end of August to late September, Joint Missions for promoting
trade and investment to Africa will visit Africa. This is the Mission which
was pledged by the Prime Minister, Fukuda, at the opening
ceremony of TICAD IV held in this May.
- The mission comprises members from economic and political circles, the
Ministries and governmental institutions. The members will be divided into
three groups to visit southern Africa, eastern Africa and western Africa.
- In the countries they will visit, the Missions will collect information,
form personal connections, and find items for trade and investment, by having
talks with VIPs in these countries, exchanging opinions with the local Chambers
of Commerce and Industry and enterprises, and visiting various facilities.
- It is expected that the Mission will further develop trade and investment between Japan and Africa, contribute to the acceleration of the growth of the African economy discussed in TICAD IV, and further promote Japan’s resource diplomacy.
