Commencement Ceremony for the FY 2008 Pilot Program for Human Resource Development in Asia for Peacebuilding

- On August 25 (Mon), a commencement ceremony for the FY 2008 Pilot Program
for Human Resource Development in Asia for Peacebuilding will be held at
the United Nations University (UNU), co-hosted by the Hiroshima Peacebuilders
Center and the UNU. The ceremony will be attended by Mr. Shintaro
Ito, State Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Akira Ninomiya, Director and
Executive Vice-president of Hiroshima University, Dr. Konrad Osterwalder,
Rector of the UNU, and Mr. Kenzo Oshima, Vice President of the Japan International
Cooperation Agency, as well as 28 trainees from Japan and other countries
in Asia.
- The trainees will be dispatched to the offices of international organizations around the world for overseas attachment from October 2008 at the longest to March 2009, after they have completed coursework in Japan for six weeks in Tokyo and Hiroshima.
