Provision of Hokkaido Toyako Summit Public Relations Videos to Major Internet Portal Sites
July 4, 2008
- In advance of the Hokkaido Toyako Summit, which will begin on July 7,
2008, on July 4 the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Cabinet Public Relations
Office will begin transmitting Summit-related video files produced by the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs to Internet users in Japan and overseas in cooperation
with five Internet portal operators (Microsoft Corporation, NEC Biglobe
Ltd., Usen Corporation, Yahoo Japan Corporation, and YouTube, LLC).
- With the Internet having become increasingly important in recent years
as an effective means of transmitting information on a par with newspapers
and television, we believe that publicizing the Hokkaido Toyako Summit on
the Internet, especially through the medium of video, is an effective means
of providing information in a lively, accessible manner.
- The Hokkaido Toyako Summit official website features a Multimedia section through which we have undertaken advance publicity for the Summit. To supplement the website, we have decided to make use of video portal websites operated by private companies that are popular among users in Japan and overseas.
