Visit to Japan by Dr. Jacques Diouf, Director-General of the U.N. Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO)

  1. Dr. Jacques Diouf, Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations, will visit Japan from May 14 (Wed) to 16 (Fri).
     
  2. Prior to the High-Level Conference on World Food Security, hosted by the FAO in Rome from June 3 to 5, Dr. Diouf will pay courtesy calls on Mr. Yasuo Fukuda, Prime Minister, Mr. Masahiko Koumura, Minister for Foreign Affairs, and Mr. Masatoshi Wakabayashi, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, to exchange views on global and regional food security and agricultural development that might be themes at the Conference.
     
  3. It is expected that through Dr. Diouf’s visit, the cooperative relationship between the FAO and the Government of Japan will be further strengthened.
