The Tenth Meeting of the Africa Partnership Forum

- The Tenth Meeting of the Africa Partnership Forum will be held in Mita
House, Tokyo, from April 7 (Mon) to 8 (Tue).
- In the opening session of the meeting, Mr. Masahiko Koumura, Minister
for Foreign Affairs, will deliver a keynote speech. The meeting will
be attended by Mr. Itsunori Onodera, Senior Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs
(the third session in the morning of April 8 (Tue) only), and Mr. Masato
Kitera, Director-General for Sub-Saharan African Affairs, Ministry of Foreign
Affairs as chairpersons of the Japanese side, and Dr. Maxwell M. Mkwezalamba,
Commissioner for Economic Affairs, African Union(AU), Mr. Neway Gebreab,
Chief Economic Advisor to the Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic
of Ethiopia, Dr. Charles Brempong-Yeboah, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs,
Regional Integration & Nepad, Republic of Ghana、Mr. Remo Gautschi,
Deputy Director-General, Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation(SDC),
and others from other countries and agencies.
- This 10th forum will take up such issues as environmental issues and climate change, boosting economic growth, and poverty reduction in Africa. The outcome of the discussion there will be reflected to the Fourth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD IV) to be held from May 28 (Wed) to 30 (Fri) in Yokohama, and the G8 Hokkaido-Toyako Summit to be held from July 7 (Mon) to 9 (Wed).
