Dr. Tatsuo Arima, Special Envoy of the Government of Japan for the Middle East, to Attend the Arab League Summit, and to Visit the State of Israel, the Palestinian Territories, and the United States of America

- Dr. Tatsuo Arima, Special Envoy of the Government of Japan for the Middle 
    East, will visit the Syrian Arab Republic to attend the Arab League Summit 
    which will be held in Damascus, Syria.  After that, he will visit the 
    State of Israel, the Palestinian Territories, and the United States of America, 
    from March 27 (Thu) to April 6 (Sun).  
 - Dr. Arima will attend the Arab League Summit from March 29 (Sat) to 
    30 (Sun) as an observer representing the Government of Japan, and exchange 
    views on the situation in the Middle East with officials from countries 
    in the Middle East who will attend the meeting.
 - Dr. Arima will exchange views on the situation and the future prospects 
    of the Middle East peace process with officials from the Government of Israel 
    and the Palestinian Authority.  Dr. Arima will encourage the parties 
    concerned to make continuous efforts for concluding a peace agreement.  
 - Dr. Arima will exchange views on the situation in the Middle East including peace in the region with officials of the Government of the United States.
