The Second Japan-Australia Joint Foreign and Defence Ministerial Consultations

  1. The Second Japan-Australia Joint Foreign and Defence Ministerial Consultations will be held on December 18 (Thu) in Tokyo.
     
  2. The Consultations will be attended on the Japanese side by Mr. Hirofumi Nakasone, Minister for Foreign Affairs, and Mr. Yasukazu Hamada, Minister of Defense, and on the Australian side, by The Hon. Stephen Smith, Minister for Foreign Affairs, and The Hon. Joel Fitzgibbon, Minister for Defence.
     
  3. In the Consultations, Ministers will discuss the international situation and specific ways to enhance security cooperation between Japan and Australia.
     
  4. It is expected that the Consultations will further strengthen the strategic relationship between Japan and Australia.
