Visit to Japan by The Hon Simon Crean MP, Minister for Trade of Australia

  1. The Hon Simon Crean MP, Minister for Trade of Australia, will visit Japan from January 20 (Sun) to 24 (Thu).  
     
  2. During his stay, Mr. Crean will meet with Mr. Masahiko Koumura, Minister for Foreign Affairs, and other key figures both from the Government of Japan and the Japanese private sector.  Mr. Crean will exchange views with Mr. Koumura on matters concerned with the WTO Doha Round, bilateral relations including the EPA negotiations between Japan and Australia, and the international situation.   
     
  3. The forthcoming visit will be the first to Japan by a Minister for Trade of Australia since the Labor Government was launched after the general election held in Australia last November.  It is expected that Mr. Crean’s visit will further promote economic relations between Japan and Australia.
