- The 51st General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency
(IAEA) will be held from September 17 (Mon) to 21 (Fri) in Vienna.
- Mr. Yoshio Nakagawa, Senior Vice-Minister, Cabinet Office, and Mr. Yukiya
Amano, Ambassador to the Permanent Mission of Japan to the International
Organizations in Vienna, will attend the General Conference as the representatives
of the Government of Japan, alongside alternates and observers from the
Cabinet Office, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Education,
Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, and Ministry of Economy, Trade
and Industry.
- At the forthcoming Conference, the representative of each government will make a speech about their respective atomic policy and discuss nuclear security measures, the strengthening the effectiveness and efficiency of the safeguards system, the issue of the DPRK’s implementation of safeguards, and other issues.
