The 7th Meeting of the Japan-China Joint Committee on Environmental Protection and Cooperation

- The 7th Meeting of the Japan-China Joint Committee on Environmental
Protection and Cooperation will be held on September 4 (Tue) in Tokyo.
- The meeting will be attended on the Japanese side by relevant officials
from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of the Environment, Ministry
of Economy, Trade and Industry, Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries,
and Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transportation, headed by Mr. Masahiro
Kohara, Deputy Director-General of the Asian and Oceanian Affairs Bureau,
Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and on the Chinese side by relevant officials
from the State Environmental Protection Administration headed by Mr. Tang
Ding Ding, Deputy Director-General of the International Cooperation Department
of the Administration.
- This Committee is a governmental consultation based on the Japan-China Environmental Protection and Cooperation Agreement (concluded in 1994) to exchange views on the environmental policies of the two countries and the bilateral and multilateral cooperation in the environmental field. At this meeting, views will be exchanged, as a follow-up, concerning the Joint Statement by Japan and the People’s Republic of China on the Further Enhancement of Cooperation for Environmental Protection announced in April this year when Mr. Wen Jiabao, Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, visited Japan.
