International Media Seminar on Peace in the Middle East

- The International Media Seminar on Peace in the Middle East will be held on June 26 (Tue) and 27 (Wed), co-hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan together with the UN Department of Public Information and the United Nations University (supported by the UN Information Center), at the United Nations University (5th floor, Elizabeth Rose Conference Hall).
- Mr. Taro Aso, Minister for Foreign Affairs, will address the opening session, and Dr. Tatsuo Arima, Special Envoy of the Government of Japan, will participate in the session on regional economic cooperation on June 27 as a panelist where he is expected to have active exchange of views with participants from both Israel and Palestine on the concept of the “Corridor for Peace and Prosperity” which Japan is promoting. In the evening of June 26, Mr. Masayoshi Hamada, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, will host a welcome reception for the participants of the Seminar and those concerned with Middle East peace process in Japan.
- The International Media Seminar on Peace in the Middle East is organized in accordance with relevant UN General Assembly resolutions and aims at seeking a solution to the issues related to Middle East peace process by promoting dialogue between Israelis and Palestinians. The Seminar has been held every year under the joint auspices of the UN Department of Public Information and a host country, and this is the 15th seminar
