Negotiations to Conclude a Japan-Kazakhstan Agreement for Cooperation in the Peaceful Uses of Nuclear Energy

  1. The first round of negotiations to conclude a Japan-Kazakhstan Agreement for Cooperation in the Peaceful Uses of Nuclear Energy will be held on June 13 (Wed) in Astana, Kazakhstan.
  2. The round will be attended from the Japanese side by: Mr. Takeshi Nakane, Director-General of the Disarmament, Non-Proliferation and Science Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Head of the Japanese Delegation) and officials concerned from relevant ministries; and from the Kazakhstani side by: Mr. Timur Zhantikin, Chairman of the Kazakhstan Atomic Energy Committee (Head of the Kazakhstani Delegation) and officials concerned.
  3. In this round, discussions will be held on how to conduct talks in the future, and on the contents of the Agreement, which is aimed at promoting cooperation between Japan and Kazakhstan in the peaceful uses of nuclear energy.
