10th Japan-EU High Level Meeting on the Environment

- The 10th Japan-EU (European Union) High Level Meeting on the Environment will be held in Brussels (Headquarters of the European Commission) on May 21 (Mon).
- This Meeting will be co-chaired, on the Japanese side, by Mr. Mutsuyoshi Nishimura, Ambassador for Global Environmental Affairs, and on the EU side, by Mr. Peter Carl, Director-General of the Environment Directorate-General of the European Commission. Representatives of the Japanese ministries and agencies concerned and the related departments of the European Commission will also attend this meeting.
- The participants will take up environmental issues such as climate change, sustainable use of natural resources, and biodiversity. They will also exchange views on the respective domestic efforts of Japan and the EU, and international cooperation.
- Following up on the ninth meeting held in Tokyo last April, a wide-ranging policy dialogue between Japan and the EU will be held from a broad perspective on matters of interest to both sides in the field of environment.
