Mr. Katsuhito Asano, Senior Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, to Attend IEA Biennial Ministerial-level Meeting and OECD Ministerial Council Meeting (MCM)

  1. Mr. Katsuhito Asano, Senior Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, will attend the 21st IEA Biennial Ministerial-level Meeting and the 46th OECD Ministerial Council Meeting (MCM) in Paris from May 14 (Mon) to 16 (Wed).

  2. At the IEA Ministerial-level Meeting, there will be a discussion on a sustainable energy future, current trends of energy markets, resource nationalism and other matters.  At the OECD MCM, there will be a discussion on: globalization, growth and equity; innovation and growth; enlargement of the OECD membership and enhanced engagement with selected non-OECD countries; and future challenges for an open global trading system.

  3. Mr. Asano will also have talks with major representatives of other participating countries.
