The First Japan-Vietnam Joint Committee on Cooperation in Science and Technology

  1. On March 7 (Wed), Japan and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam will hold the first meeting of the Japan-Vietnam Joint Committee on Cooperation in Science and Technology (S&T) in Tokyo (Mita House). The meeting will be chaired by Mr. Chihiro Atsumi, Director-General for the Southeast and Southwest Asian Affairs Department of the Foreign Ministry, on the Japanese side; and Mr. Thach Can, Director-General for the Department of International Relations of the Ministry of Science and Technology, on the Vietnamese side.
  2. The participants of this meeting on the Vietnamese side will be representatives from the S&T fields headed by H.E. Dr. Hoang Van Phong, Minister of Science and Technology; and on the Japanese side, government officials concerned.
  3. The meeting will discuss progress in S&T policy in Japan and Vietnam and current S&T cooperation between the two countries.
  4. It is hoped that this meeting will further strengthen S&T cooperation and friendly relations between Japan and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
