Holding of the International Symposium "Recent Trend of the Management of Marine Living Resources: Possibility and Limitation of Ecosystem approaches"

- An international symposium "Recent Trend of the Management of Marine Living Resources: Possibility and Limitation of Ecosystem approaches", co-hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Association for Comparative Study of Legal Cultures, will be held on March 27 (Tue) in Tokyo (Mita Kyoyo Kaigisho).
- Mr. Joji Morishita, Director for International Fisheries Negotiations, International Affairs Division, Resources Management Department, Fisheries Agency; Prof.Yasuko Tsuru, Assistant Professor at Tokyo Gakugei University; Dr. Lars Walloe, Professor of Physiology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Oslo; and Ms. Lori Ridgeway, Co-chairperson, United Nations Open-ended Informal Consultative Process on Oceans and the Law of the Sea, will participate in the symposium and will also hold lectures and panel discussions.
It is expected that members of foreign embassies in Tokyo, researchers, students and NGO-related persons will also attend this symposium. - At the symposium experts from various fields will discuss on desirable ways and problems of management of marine living resources, on the basis of sustainable use, taking into consideration recent discussions on management of marine living resources such as "ecosystem approaches".
