Japan-Mekong Foreign Ministers’ Meeting

- Mr. Masahiko Koumura, Minister for Foreign Affairs, will host a Japan-Mekong
Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Tokyo on January 16 (Wed), 2008.
- From the five countries of the Mekong Region, Mr. Hor Namhong, Deputy
Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation
of Cambodia, Mr. Nitya Pibulsonggram, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand,
Dr. Pham Gia Khiem, Deputy Prime Minister, and Foreign Minister of the Socialist
Republic of Viet Nam, U Nyan Win, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Myanmar,
and Mr. Thongloun Sisoulit, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of
Laos, are invited to the meeting to discuss promotion of cooperation between
Japan and the Mekong Region in various fields including politics, economy,
economic cooperation, and culture.
- Each foreign minister will have a bilateral meeting with Mr. Koumura on either January 16 (Wed) or 17 (Thu), and attend a seminar on investment promotion.
