Holding of Global Festa Japan 2007
October 2, 2007
- ‘Global Festa Japan 2007’ will be held on October 6 (Sat) and 7 (Sun)
in Tokyo (Hibiya Park) co-organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,
Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Japan Bank for International
Cooperation (JBIC), and Japan NGO Center for International Cooperation (JANIC).
- This event titled ‘International Cooperation Festival’ is considered
the largest event on international cooperation in Japan and has been held
every year for the last 17 years. The name of the event was changed
to the ‘Global Festa Japan’ in 2005 to encourage the young generation
and those who are not really familiar with international cooperation to
join in.
- The theme this year is ‘Family and Earth,’ which is expected to make
the participants think relations from within the family, which is the center
of our daily lives, to the neighboring region, the environment, and the
world. It aims at promoting understanding of international cooperation
and developing countries.
- As special supporter for the event, Talent Ms. Kaori Manabe will participate
in a talk show and various programs on October 7 (Sun). There will
be many entertaining and easy-to-understand events such as the seminar ‘Let’s
talk about international cooperation’ intended to make people think about
how to participate in international cooperation/ODA, report from Mr. Tomohiro
Sekiguchi, narrator of a TV program 'CHIKYU Supporter,’ which introduces
Japan’s ODA activities on October 6 (Sat), and demonstrations by the Japan
Disaster Relief Team on October 6 and 7.
- More than 200 groups concerned with international cooperation including government agencies, NGOs, international organizations, and embassies, will participate in the event. A tent of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) will have a space presenting ‘CHIKYU Supporter,’ programs such as ‘Declaration for My International Cooperation’ which invites the participants to declare that they will do what they can for international cooperation, and talk sessions by the MOFA officials.
