Visit to Japan by Dr. Ahmed Djoghlaf, Executive Secretary of the Convention on Biological Diversity

1. Dr. Ahmed Djoghlaf, Executive Secretary of the Convention on Biological Diversity, will visit Japan from January 23 (Tue) to 27 (Sat) to attend an international symposium, organized by the Japan Committee for the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN).
2. During his stay, Dr. Djoghlaf is also scheduled to have talks with Japan's key government officials.
3. Taking this opportunity, Japan will directly tell Dr. Djoghlaf its wish to invite the 10th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP10), which will be held in 2010, to Japan.
