The Fifth Informal Meeting on Further Actions against Climate Change

- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will hold the "Fifth Informal Meeting on Further Actions against Climate Change" in Tokyo (Mita House) from January 24 (Wed) to 25 (Thu).
- The Informal Meeting will be co-chaired by Mr. Mutsuyoshi Nishimura, Special Envoy of the Government of Japan for Climate Change and Ambassador for Global Environmental Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, and Mr. Luiz Alberto Figueiredo Machado, Director General, Department of Environment and Special Affairs, Ministry of External Relations of Brazil. Senior officials and experts of some 20 countries of both developed and developing countries and of various organizations will attend the Meeting.
- Issues such as the future of the climate regime, adaptation to climate change and transfer of technologies will be discussed at the meeting. The countries participating in this Informal Meeting are responsible for approximately 70% of the total global greenhouse gas emissions (originating from use of energy sources).
