Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs Shintaro Ito to Visit the United States

- Mr. Shintaro Ito, Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, will visit the United States from September 17 (Sun) to September 22 (Fri).
- During his visit, in New York Mr. Ito will attend the ministerial level meeting on Iraq, convened by the United Nations Security-General, on September 18 (Mon) and identify progress in the reconstruction of Iraq as well as discuss the production of the International Compact with Iraq written on the future partnership between Iraq and the international community. On September 20 (Wed), Mr. Ito will attend the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT) Ministerial Meeting, at which views on measures to facilitate the early entry-into-force of the Treaty will be exchanged. It is scheduled that the Joint Ministerial Statement calling for states' early signature and ratification of the CTBT will be announced after the meeting.
