Kuala Lumpur Meeting on the Straits of Malacca and Singapore

- Mr. Akio Suda, Japanese Ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary (International Counter-Terrorism Cooperation) and Mr. Shigetaro Yamamoto, Vice Minister for International Affairs of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transportation, will attend the Kuala Lumpur Meeting on the Straits of Malacca and Singapore held under the joint auspices of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and Malaysia from September 18 to September 20.
- Littoral States of the Straits of Malacca and Singapore (Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore), main user states that are IMO member, relevant international organizations, and private organizations, will participate in this meeting.
- In this meeting, the participants will exchange views on cooperation between the littoral states and the user states of the straits concerning such issues as the safety of navigation, maritime security, and environmental protection in the Straits of Malacca and Singapore.
