Senior Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs Katsutoshi Kaneda, to Visit New York and Washington, D.C.

  1. Mr. Katsutoshi Kaneda, Senior Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, will visit New York and Washington, D.C., in the United States, from September 5 (Tue) to September 10 (Sun).
  2. In New York, Mr. Kaneda will attend the 59th Annual Conference of NGOs associated with the UN Department of Public Information, which will be held on the subject of "Unfinished Business: Effective Partnerships for Human Security and Sustainable Development." Since "human security" is one of the core elements of Japanese foreign policy and the Government of Japan has made a pioneering global commitment to the issues of human security and development, Senior Vice-Minister Kaneda is scheduled to give a speech at the opening session of the conference.
  3. In Washington, D.C., Mr. Kaneda will meet with the U.S. Government officials, members of the United States Congress and experts and will conduct extensive dialogues on issues that Japan and the United States are facing from the perspective of the Japan-U.S. global alliance.
