Mr. Shintaro Ito, Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, to Attend the U.N. Conference to Review Progress Made in the Implementation of the Programme of Action on the Illicit Trade in Small Arms and Light Weapons

  1. Mr. Shintaro Ito, Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, will visit New York from June 26 (Mon) to 27 (Tue) to attend the U.N. Conference to Review Progress Made in the Implementation of the Programme of Action to Prevent, Combat and Eradicate the Illicit Trade in Small Arms and Light Weapons in All Its Aspects.
  2. At the Conference, Mr. Ito will deliver a statement on how Japan addresses the issue of small arms and light weapons and will have separate meetings with U.N. officials and delegates from other countries.
  3. The Conference will review how the Programme of Action, which was adopted in 2001, has been implemented in each country and discuss a final document that will guide the efforts of the international community in this field.
