Mr. Keitaro Sato, Ambassador in Charge of Peace Building and Refugee-Related Issues in Africa and Special Envoy for UN Reform, to Attend a Special Summit of African Union on HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (ATM)

- As a representative of the Government of Japan, Mr. Keitaro Sato, Ambassador in Charge of Peace Building and Refugee-Related Issues in Africa and Special Envoy for UN Reform, will attend a Special Summit of African Union on HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (ATM) to be held on May 2 (Tue), 3 (Wed), and 4 (Thu) in Abuja, the capital of Nigeria.
- The meeting, attended by summit-level delegates from the 53 member states of the African Union (AU), will present an interim report on the progress of the measures which have been taken so far against infectious diseases in Africa, such as malaria, AIDS, tuberculosis and avian influenza, and will discuss future measures.
- At the meeting, the Japanese participants including Ambassador Sato will introduce Japan's assistance measures against infectious diseases and will exchange views with attendees from various African countries.
