Parliamentary Secretary for Foreign Affairs Kiyohiko Toyama to Attend Middle East and North Africa (MENA)-OECD Investment Ministerial Meeting

- Dr. Kiyohiko Toyama, Parliamentary Secretary for Foreign Affairs, will visit the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan from February 13 (Mon) to 15 (Wed) to attend the Middle East and North Africa (MENA)-OECD Investment Ministerial Meeting that will be held on February 13 (Mon) and 14 (Tue) in Jordan.
- Dr. Toyama will give a speech at this meeting, he will commend the efforts made by MENA countries in cooperation with the OECD for promotion of investment for stability and development of the MENA region, and express Japan's continued support to these efforts.
- The OECD has been implementing the project to support policy formulation aiming at improving investment climate. Because the stability and development of the MENA region are important in terms of energy and security, Japan has taken a leading role in promoting this project since it was launched through financial and in-kind contribution, such as co-chairing the Steering Group meetings of the project.
- At this Ministerial Meeting, hosted by Jordan in cooperation with the OECD, the progress of the project will be reviewed by the ministerial-level representatives, and a political declaration to promote investment will be adopted.
- Dr. Toyama will visit the Emirate of Dubai prior to the meeting in order to exchange views with the government officials, he will also visit the Kingdom of the Netherlands to exchange views with officials of the International Criminal Court (ICC).
