Japan-ROK Disarmament and Non-Proliferation Talks

  1. Japan-ROK Disarmament and Non-Proliferation Talks will be held on December 16 (Sat) in Seoul.
  2. The talks will be attended on the Japanese side by a delegation headed by Mr. Takeshi Nakane, Director-General of the Disarmament, Non-Proliferation and Science Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and on the ROK side by a delegation headed by Mr. Kang Kyung-Wha, Director-General of the International Organizations Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
  3. The talks will include wide-ranging issues in the fields of disarmament and non-proliferation in general. The Government of Japan will discuss, in particular, such issues as the maintenance and consolidation of the NPT regime, the non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and other ordnance, conventional weapons and biological and chemical weapons. The Government of Japan intends to deepen mutual understanding between the two countries in the fields of disarmament and non-proliferation and take this opportunity to seek possibilities for further cooperation.
